Closing your registrations properly so that arrears do not follow you.
What this actually is
Leaving without deregistering is the most common cause of unexpected debts. Health insurance in particular continues to accrue until you formally end it.
Who it applies to
Anyone permanently ending their stay in Czechia.
When it's required
Before or immediately after your departure.
Step by step
- 1
End your health insurance
Notify your insurer and return the card; keep the confirmation.

Close self-employment if applicable
Suspend or cancel the trade licence and notify tax and social security.

File any final tax return
A final return may be required for the part-year.

Close contracts and accounts
Lease, utilities, mobile and bank accounts do not end automatically.

Report the end of your residence
Tell the authority that issued your residence document.
