Guide
How to make an appointment
Doctors, offices and the booking habits that differ from what you may expect.
Doctors
- You register with one GP practice and they become your point of entry to specialists.
- Practices may be full; ask your insurer for a list of practices accepting new patients.
- Many practices book by phone during narrow morning hours.
Offices
- Most public offices now use an online booking system, and slots open a fixed period in advance.
- Monday and Wednesday are the traditional long-hours days.
- Arrive with printed documents; some offices cannot accept files from your phone.
