How rubbish and recycling work

Container colours

• Yellow — plastics and drinks cartons
• Blue — paper
• Green and white — coloured and clear glass
• Grey — metal
• Brown — garden and food waste, where provided
• Black — everything else

Containers are shared between buildings and sit on the street rather than in your building. Bulky items go to a collection yard (sběrný dvůr) — leaving them beside a container is an offence.

Electronics and batteries are taken back by many shops. Pharmacies take expired medicines.
