Useful Czech phrases for everyday administration
A short list that covers most counter conversations.
- Dobrý den — Good day (always open with this)
- Mluvíte anglicky? — Do you speak English?
- Nerozumím — I don't understand
- Potřebuji … — I need …
- Kde je …? — Where is …?
- Můžete to napsat? — Could you write that down?
- Kolik to stojí? — How much does it cost?
- Mám objednáno — I have an appointment
- Děkuji — Thank you
- Na shledanou — Goodbye
Writing the phrase you need on a card and handing it over works well at busy counters, and is easier than trying to pronounce it under pressure.
