Privacy statement
Prague Compass is designed to minimise the personal information it collects.
No account required
No account is required. Your profile answers, Prague Plan, saved places, notes, recent searches and other personal settings are stored in your browser on your device. They are not sent to Prague Compass or stored in a user database.
Location
If you choose to use features such as Around Me or nearby transport, your device may provide Prague Compass with your approximate location so that we can find relevant results for you. Your location is used to process that request and is not used to create a profile of you or to track you across visits.
For technical reasons, requests to our hosting infrastructure may temporarily include the coordinates and search information needed to provide the service in server logs. These logs are used to operate and maintain the service.
Analytics
Prague Compass currently uses a first-party analytics service provided through its hosting platform. It records basic information such as page views, the pages visited, your browser language, approximate country, referring source and a temporary session identifier.
The analytics identifier is stored in a first-party cookie and expires after 30 minutes. Prague Compass does not use this information for advertising, cross-site tracking or building individual user profiles.
Other technical services
Like most websites, Prague Compass relies on hosting and security infrastructure that may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information and connection details.
Some features also use external services. For example, weather information may be obtained from Open-Meteo, and fonts are currently loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser connects directly to an external service, that service may receive your IP address and other standard connection information.
Links to external websites, including official Prague and Czech government services, are clearly identified. Once you leave Prague Compass, their own privacy policies apply.
If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information to respond to you and for related correspondence.
What we don't do
Prague Compass does not:
- require you to create an account;
- sell your personal information;
- use advertising trackers;
- build a personal advertising profile;
- track you across unrelated websites;
- store your Prague Plan or saved places in a user database.
We aim to keep data collection to the minimum necessary to provide and maintain the service.
Changes to this statement
This privacy statement may be updated if the way Prague Compass works changes. The version published on this page is the current version.
