Moving country is one of the more stressful things a person can do. Feeling flat, anxious, homesick or short-tempered months after arriving is ordinary, not a personal failing — and there is help here that does not require perfect Czech or a diagnosis.

Mental health and crisis counselling
These lines are open to anyone, whatever your gender, nationality or residence status. They are free and you can stay anonymous. Most crisis lines in Czechia operate in Czech; where we could not confirm English, we say so rather than promising it.

We have not found an official register of English-speaking therapists in Prague, so we do not link to a directory we cannot vouch for. Your GP, your insurer's helpline, and your employer's benefits are usually the most reliable routes to an English-speaking psychologist.

Confidential, free, and no judgement. You do not have to report anything to the police to get help, and you do not have to have left. These services are for anyone affected — women, men, and people close to them.

Support for men
Honestly: Czechia has far less support built specifically for men than for women, and we did not find a dedicated men's crisis line. That does not mean there is nothing. Every general line above — 116 123 for mental health, 116 006 for victims of crime and domestic violence — serves men as well as women, and the registered counselling services below are open to all adults. Liga otevřených mužů runs counselling and a men's health programme, listed under community resources.
LGBT+ support
The official register of social services has no category for sexual orientation or gender identity, so the organisations below are listed here instead, checked against their own websites. All of them are free to contact and treat what you tell them as confidential.
Prague Pride — Queer Support Group and LGBT+ Community Centre
An English-speaking support group led by two therapists, free and with no registration, held monthly at the LGBT+ Community Centre (Železná 492/18, Prague 1). The centre itself is open to anyone and runs a weekly programme. Prague Pride also offers free legal advice on discrimination, partnership and rainbow-family questions, and a form for reporting a bias-motivated attack.
